Getting Around Pune'

Once you’ve arrived in Pune, getting around is easy! This page explores your transportation options, from navigating budget-friendly rickshaws to booking convenient Ubers and taxis, so you can explore the city and focus on your recovery.

1.

Travel from Mumbai to Pune

Getting a taxi, Uber, or Shuttle between Mumbai and Pune is very affordable. It is approximately a 4-hour drive. Pre-arranging with a reputable car service is a way to make sure that you don’t get overcharged. Booking with Uber gives you a clear picture of the charges for the ride. Private shuttle services will quote you a rate for the ride in advance. We have had very good success with Green Rides Pune https://greenrides.in/  Book them in advance because they are often completely booked. They have very nice electric SUV’s that are very comfortable rides for a very reasonable price.

Taxis are less predictable and there are issues reported with overcharging. If you take a taxi, get a firm quote on the rate or have them run their meter.

Getting around Pune

Rickshaw

This is probably the most common, most affordable and easiest ways to get around. Communicating with the driver about your destination can be a challenge. Often times, knowing a noteworthy location nearby or showing the driver on a map on your phone is helpful. Negotiate the price before you leave or having them use their meter is a way to prevent an issue about cost. Many hotels and locations have regular drivers nearby and you can also develop a relationship with a regular driver who you can set up trips in advance.

Uber

Uber is very common and a comfortable way to get around. Paying for Uber needs to be set up as all forms of payment do not work on Uber in India. International Credit Cards may not work for Uber. Uber cash or Cash Pay options do work well. Two advantages of Uber are that the destination is put in the App by you and the cost of the ride is pre-determined.

Taxi

Taxis are available, but based on our experience, they are the least commonly used option. Most patients use rickshaws or Uber.
